A dance or martial arts?

At the end of the school year, we will present a performance for teenagers. It will connect contemporary dance with fighting techniques.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., the German ensemble Free Radicals will perform Where the Boys Are in the Telocvičňa (Gym) in Bratislava’s Nová Cvernovka. The choreography of Israeli creator Yotam Peled playfully connects dance with martial arts. The performance is intended for a young audience aged 13 and over.

On the occasion of the end of the school year, we decided to reward the students, but also their parents and teachers with a performance in the non-traditional space of the school gym. Choreographer Yotam Peled and his group Free Radicals will present the dance performance Where the Boys Are, in which two dancers use the movement vocabulary of various combat techniques and gradually transform the arena of physical conflict into a place where a space for sensitive and receptive contact is created. At the same time, viewers will be exposed to different perspectives on relationships between young people.

“One of our long-term goals is to reach the younger generation, who may be afraid of contemporary dance. We are convinced that the performance of Yotam Peled and Free Radicals will appeal to young people because it is intense, uses various physically demanding techniques and thematically focuses on the timeless theme of the form of a relationship between two people,” explains the artistic director of our festival, Miroslava Kovářová.

In addition to Bratislava, the troupe will also visit Trnava, where the performance will take place on June 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the Municipal Sports Hall of Trnava, in cooperation with the Ján Palárik Theater as part of their new project for young audiences, Teen Theater Fest.

In the 40-minute-long performance, English text will be heard. At the end, a discussion with the dancers is also prepared. You can buy tickets via https://predpredaj.zoznam.sk.
