The second Dance Film Evening brings two different perspectives on relationships and emotions conveyed through movement. Les Saisons de la danse captures four phases of love in four dance duets set to music by Max Richter, while Silentium presents a short dance story without words. As every year, the film selection was curated for us by the Dance Film Festival Prague.
LES SAISONS DE LA DANSE
Four seasons, four phases of love
The feature-length film Les Saisons de la danse was created under the guidance of young French producer Boris Bergére. Four dance duets portray four phases of love, set to Max Richter’s The New Four Seasons. In this pioneering composition, Richter combines Vivaldi’s iconic The Four Seasons with modern electronic elements, creating a fresh, emotionally multilayered soundscape that respects the original work while giving it a contemporary dimension.
Each of the four choreographers offers a unique perspective on one of the phases of love, while four dance couples bring these emotions to life through powerful and expressive movement. The film was co-produced with Arte France and brings together classical heritage and contemporary dance in an intense exploration of the complexities of love.

SILENTIUM
A story that needs no words
The film evening also introduces the work of the youngest generation of French dance-for-camera filmmakers, represented by young director Roméo Lefèvre. His short film Silentium won the main prize at last year’s Dance Film Festival Prague.
The film presents an apocalyptic vision of a world destroyed by a mysterious contagion, where the story of a woman and a man begins to unfold. A relationship that needs no words. Gestures become language. As warning signals echo through the ruins of civilisation, the two discover both the infinity of the universe and the beauty of forgotten objects and memories.
