MAY B Maguy Marin’s cult work on the big screen
MAY B is a cult dance-theatre work by French choreographer Maguy Marin, created in 1981 and later brought to the screen. The piece is a profound homage to and an original interpretation of the absurd world of Samuel Beckett.
Directed by David Mambouch, the film captures a performance that portrays, with rawness and tragicomic humour, the absurdity of human existence, the difficulty of living together and the fear of loneliness. Characters reminiscent of wanderers or clowns move across the stage, evoking an image of flawed humanity caught in its own condition.
