BLACK
BLACK is a dance work in which choreographer and performer Oulouy reflects on both the violence inflicted on Black identity and its emancipation in the contemporary world. Through the body and a minimalist, symbolic set, he refers to recent history, including the Black Lives Matter movement and the murder of George Floyd.
The performance combines dance, imagery and music. Its movement vocabulary is a diverse mix of street styles from Africa and its American diaspora, ranging from coupé-décalé and ndombolo to afro house and krump.
Practical Information
The performance will be presented on the same evening as Salim Mzé Hamadi Moissi: L’EXPAT as part of the AFRICA MOMENT programme. The ticket is valid for both performances.

Oulouy is a French choreographer and performer of Ivorian origin, based in Spain. In his work, he combines the street dance of Africa and its diaspora in the United States with a strong visual and political statement. He is the author of the works Black, Afrikan Party and Kong, which have been presented on major international stages. For the choreography of Afrikan Party, he received an award from the Catalan Critics’ Awards.
Africa Moment was founded in Spain in 2016 and focuses on contemporary performing arts, artistic research and education. Its programme brings together work from different cultural contexts, with a particular focus on artists from the Global South.
The organisation creates space for different artistic approaches, experiences and perspectives to meet. Through performances, educational activities and international collaboration, Africa Moment broadens the view of contemporary performing arts and supports cultural exchange.
